INTERESTING WW1 MK.III TELESCOPE. MADE BY TROUGHTON & SIMS, LONDON 1914 WITH BROAD ARROW MARK. IN EXCELLENT OVERALL CONDITION. WITH ITS LEATHER END CAP. SLIDING COVER TO THE REAR LENS. INCLUDING THE SUN SHADE, EXTENDS TO 35 INCHES. GIVES A PERFECT LONG DISTANCE IMAGE. ENGRAVED TO THE MAIN BARREL, – “AWARDED TO – SARNT G.HOBBIS “SPOTTER” 4th B.N. V.  Y.  AND  L.  REGT  FRANCE 1917″WITH A 16.5 INCH LONG HARDWOOD MOUNT. THE BASE OF THE MOUNT WITH CUT-OUTS FOR SIX MEDALLIONS, FIVE OF WHICH REMAIN. FOUR BRONZE AND ONE SILVER. ALL NAMED TO G. HOBBIS WITH 1915, 1916, AND 1918 DATES. THE WOODEN MOUNT LATER MADE TO KEEP THE SCOPE AND MEDALS TOGETHER.
