A fine example of this very scarce dagger given to a German student attending an NPEA ‘Nationalpolitische Erziehungsanstalten’, (‘National Political Teaching Institute’), which were secondary boarding schools run by the Nazi Party in Germany with the intent of indoctrinating the youth with National Socialist ideals. The dagger is 8.75 in. blade, 13.5 in. overall, polished wood grip with nickel pommel and cross guard in the style of an SA dagger. The blade is  acid etched with the motto of NPEA, ‘Mehr sein als scheinen’ (‘Be More than you Appear’) and marked on the ricasso by maker Eickhorn. Given that there is no insignia affixed to the grip means this is a student version of the dagger. Accompanied by its period metal scabbard in green  paint and leather frog . Some discolouration to the guard and pommel, and staining to the blade yet overall good condition.
