AT FIRST GLANCE, SMOOTH BORE, BUT AGAINST THE LIGHT ANGLES, THE OVAL RIFLING REVEALS ITSELF. V.R. ENFIELD LOCK DATED 1857 IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. WITH ITS CORRECT LOADING ROD. BAR-ON-BARREL FOR THE BRASS HILTED LANCASTER SWORD BAYONET. NOTE THE REAR SIGHT IS THE OTHER WAY AROUND. THIS IS TO KNOW AT QUICK GLANCE THIS IS A LANCASTER. NOT ENFIELD RIFLE. STEEL BUTT PLATE WITH “VF” FOR TH EVOLUNTEER FORCE. BREECH MARKED LANCASTER. WITH LONDON PROOF MARKS. WOOD REPAIR TO THE RIGHT OF THE LOCK. THE METALWORK HAS BEEN CLEANED BRIGHT.
