FROM A UNIQUE COLLECTION OF ROYAL NAVY ITEMS BELONGING TO ADMIRAL MATTHEW BUCKLE SENIOR, (1716 – 1784), AND HIS SON, ADMIRAL BUCKLE (1770 – 1855). SOLD OFF SEVERAL YEARS AGO FROM THE FAMILY SEAT, NORTH HOUSE IN SURREY. MANY FROM THE BUCKLE FAMILY HAD LONG HISTORICAL CARRIERS IN THE ROYAL NAVY INCLUDING THE SON OF THE SECOND ADMIRAL, ADMIRAL SIR CLAUDE BUCKLE. AS SUCH, THE THE HOUSE OF THE FAMILY ESTATE DISPLAYED MANY FINE ROYAL NAVAL THEMED PCITURE DEPICTING THEMSELVE, AND GREAT ROYAL NAVAL ENGAGEMENTS. THE FIST ADMIRAL BUCKLE DIED, A FULL ADMIRAL, 7TH JULY 1784. HIS FIRST ACTION WAS THE CAPTURE OF THE SPANISH SHIP, GLORIOSO IN 1747. WENT ON TO COMMAND, HMS THE ROYAL GEORGE.
