OF THE VARIANTS OF THE SEAS SERVICE PISTOL, THIS IS THE CORRECT ONE ON ISSUE THROUGHOUT NELSON’S GREAT VICTORIES SUCH AS THE BATTLE OF THE NILE, OR TRAFALGAR. MOST SEA SERVICE PISTOLS AROUND TODAY ARE THE LATER 1801 PATT, MOST OF WHICH WERE MADE AND NEVER ISSUED INTO SERVICE. PISTOL IN UNUSUALLY GOOD CONDITION FOR A 1777 PATT. THE STOCK GOOD AND CRISP. NO SIGNIFICANT PITTING TO THE METALWORK WHICH HAS NOT BEEN SANDED OR HEAVILY CLEANED. LOCK TO A NICE BROWN PATINA. LOCK IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. STILL WITH ITS LONG IRON BELT HOOK AND BRASS TIPPED LOADING ROD.
